Welcome to MVS Blog
The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has released an important update regarding the April 2026 Public Examination. As per Notification No. 8/2026 dated 9 February 2026, NIOS has extended the examination fee collection schedule for all eligible learners with a consolidated late fee.
This extension is significant for students who were unable to deposit their examination fee within the earlier deadlines announced under Notification No. 05/2026 dated 2 February 2026. The update provides a final opportunity for eligible candidates to complete the fee payment process and appear in the April 2026 examinations.
For students planning their NIOS April 2026 admission and examination process, understanding this notification carefully is essential to avoid missing the last date.

The exam fee deadline for April 2026's public test now runs longer, as stated in the formal update - late payment will require a single charge of Rs. 1600. While originally set earlier, the cutoff date has shifted forward under new guidance.
For only a short window, the NIOS platform accepting exam payments stays active, giving qualified students a chance to submit fees digitally
Important Dates for Fee Submission
Fee submission window: 10 February 2026 to 16 February 2026
Late fee applicable: Consolidated late fee of Rs. 1600
Mode of payment: Online only
This extension applies to all eligible learners who are appearing in the April 2026 public examination

This notification is relevant for learners who:
Are eligible for the April 2026 Public Examination
Could not submit the examination fee within earlier timelines
Are continuing or planning under NIOS 2026 Admission
Need a final chance to deposit the exam fee with late charges
NIOS has clearly stated that this extension is being provided in continuation of the earlier notification. Learners are strongly advised to treat this as a final opportunity.

The notification once again highlights an important eligibility condition for Senior Secondary Course learners.
NIOS requires a compulsory gap of two years between:
The block/session and year of passing the Secondary Examination, and
The attempt to obtain the Senior Secondary passing certificate
If the Two-Year Gap Is Not Completed
Learners who do not meet the two-year gap requirement must:
Register for a maximum of four subjects only
This count includes subjects already passed
Carefully select subjects while registering for the April 2026 examination
Failure to follow this rule may affect certification eligibility.

NIOS has clearly specified that the examination fee must be paid only through online mode.
Learners must visit the official NIOS examination portal:
sdmis.nios.ac.in
No offline payment methods are permitted. Students should ensure successful payment and retain proof of transaction for future reference.

Unexpected delays in settling fees often shape outcomes during the NIOS April 2026 enrollment phase. Failure to meet cutoff dates typically triggers disruptions
Ineligibility to appear in the April 2026 exam
Delay in academic progress
Loss of an examination attempt
Staying on track with fees helps students keep pace academically when enrolled in NIOS 2026. Meeting deadlines means progress flows without interruption toward certification.

To avoid errors or last-minute issues, learners should:
Pay the examination fee within the extended window
Ensure subject selection follows eligibility rules
Use only the official NIOS website for payment
Keep a copy of the fee receipt
Double-check personal and subject details before submission
Being cautious At This Stage Can Prevent Unnecessary Complications Later
