Q 1. (a) “Economic facts and figures are called Positive Economics whereas Normative Economics deals with “What ought to be.” Explain the statement with appropriate examples.
Answer - Positive economics focuses on objective facts and data, describing "what is." For example, "unemployment is at 5%."

Normative economics involves value judgments, addressing "what ought to be," such as "the government should reduce unemployment."

While positive economics is descriptive, normative economics is prescriptive, reflecting
opinions on economic policies and goals.

Answer – In a capitalist economic system, resources are allocated through market forces—supply, demand, and price mechanisms—driven by individual choices and competition. In contrast, a planned economic system allocates resources based on government decisions and central planning, where the state determines production, distribution, and pricing to meet collective goals rather than market demand.
