Question 1 - Definition of society and education? Explain the concept of equality  and its relation with education.

Answer – Introduction  

Human life is associated with the society in which he is born and plays his role in doing social work, his life-long work goes on in the society itself and education is a medium which helps in building an ideal society and through equality in the society, the work of making a good society and educated society can be created by spreading education for the purpose of welfare of all. 

Definition of Society and Education :-

Society - A group of individuals which are interdependent together in political, religious, economic, social, cultural and other activities is called Society.   

  • The word society originates from the Latin words “societas” and “socius” which mean “friend or associate”.
  • It originated in 12th-century French society meaning "company".  
  • The father of sociology and the promoter of positivism in sociology is Auguste Comte

Education - It is a process in which the individual is trained to develop knowledge, experience, skills, moral values, etc. The purpose of education is to increase the prosperity of the individual and the power of the people who are always ready for the  development of the society. 

The word education is derived from two Latin words  "Educere" and "Educare" in which Educere means "to lead out" or  "to train" and Educare means  "to train" or "to nourish".

Peters (Hamm, 1989) has divided its use into three major forms: sociological use, institutional use, and the use of the rise of common sense. 

Concept of Equality :-

"Equality"  is a social, political, and economic concept that means all persons should have the right to function with equality and justice. The concept of equality gives the idea that all people should have equal rights, opportunities and the right to move forward.  

The word equality originated from the old French "Equalite” or modern French “Egalite” and the Latin word “Aequalitas". Which means "The State of Being Equal." One who believes in equality or equal treatment in social, political or economic matters.

Relation of Society with Concept of Equality and Education: - 

1) Access to Education for all

Equality and education are very essential for the society in which there will be no  discrimination against anyone on the basis of religion, caste or place of birth before the  law up to Article 14-18, and according to Article 21A, the system of free and compulsory  education for all children of 6-14 years by the Constitution should be made available to every section of the society Relates to institutional use and use of common sense. 

Sociological use - In this,  guidance is given by  the new generations  to maintain the culture.

Institutional Use - In this, work is done for the development of the individual from  formal institutions and schools.

Common Knowledge Usage - It involves work to develop human understanding. 

2) Change in thought and Perspective  

Education can improve people's perspective towards human rights, harmony, and social justice. It gives them a sense of trust and understanding and makes them understand the importance of equality in society. 

3) Promoting Social Equality 

Education can promote social equality in society when it is reached to people of all classes, castes, genders, and religions. This leads to the reduction of social discrimination in the society and steps towards a prosperous and progressive society. 

4) Increase in Development

Education and Equality plays an important role in the development of the society and helps to follow the principle of equality. Educated and skilled citizens can become a source of development for all members of the society.

Conclusion

Through the concept of equality, a society can be made civilized through education, for which it is necessary that the work of its proper distribution should be arranged by the state keeping in mind the spirit of welfare of all.
