Answer the following questions in one or two sentences each:

Q29. What happened to the smallest runner when the pistol exploded?

                                                                                                      (Nine Gold Medals)

Answer - When the pistol exploded to start the race, the smallest runner stumbled, lost his balance, and fell on the track. He was very disappointed because all his hard work and dreams of winning a medal were suddenly destroyed.

Q30. What was the tradition that was handed down to the old man by his forefathers?

                                                                                                (The Last Stone Mason)   

Answer - The old man had learnt the art of carving stone and making statues from his father, who had learnt it from his own father. This family tradition of sculpture work had been followed for hundreds of years, and the old man wanted his son to continue it.

Q31. How did Grandfather react when he knew that Raja had caught a snake?       

(Snake Bite)

Answer - When Grandfather found out that Raja had caught a snake, he got very scared. He quickly took the coconut shell from Raja and threw it away so the snake could escape. He also warned Raja never to go near a snake because snakes are very dangerous.

 

Q32. According to Jawaharlal Nehru why should we never do anything in secret?

Answer - According to Jawaharlal Nehru, we should never do anything in secret because it is better to live openly and honestly. He believed that when we hide things, it means we are doing something wrong. Living truthfully helps us become better and stronger people.

Q33. What is the poem 'A Prayer for Healing' all about?

Answer - The poem 'A Prayer for Healing' is about taking care of the Earth and all living things. It tells us to protect nature, bring peace, and work together to heal the world and make it a better place for everyone.

Q34. How did the attendant describe the three holy men at the gate?

Answer - The attendant said that the three holy men were from the north. He told Jijabai that they looked poor, wore rags, had shaved heads, and their arms and faces were covered with grey ash. He thought they had come to beg because they heard about her kindness.

Q35. Answer the following question.

(i) What havoc did the tiger cause when he entered the Market Road?

                                                                                             (A Tiger Comes To Town I)

Answer - When the tiger entered the Market Road, people got very scared and ran in all directions. Shops were shut down quickly, and everyone hid inside their homes. The whole area became quiet and empty. The tiger caused panic and fear, but he did not actually harm anyone.

(ii) What was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel determined to do for the poor farmers of Gujarat?     

                                                                                          (Co-operate and prosper)

Answer - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel saw that the farmers of Gujarat were very poor even though they worked hard and reared cattle. He felt sad for their condition and wanted to improve their lives. So, he decided to bring them together into a co-operative group. His aim was to give them a steady income and free them from the control of middlemen who cheated them. With strong support from him, this co-operative movement brought prosperity to the farmers and helped in the creation of a big dairy industry.
